Gonzalez graduated from Pioneer High School and attended Woodland Community College. “If someone doesn’t care about the responsibilities or the students, it would be very hard to get everything done.” “If I had to give advice to someone who is pursuing my profession, it would be to make sure to care for the job,” she said. I also support teachers in their professional development and field trips, so they can better provide students with engagement and leadership opportunities to shape the student’s education and future.”īeing a school office coordinator is a promising career that requires successful candidates to care about students, Gonzalez said.
“Even the toughest of kids can be persuaded if there is a connection and when I least expect it, they come back to me with a plan for their future. “As an office coordinator, I build relationships with students everyday and when I have a connection with them, even small talk can make a great difference in their decisions,” Gonzalez said. Supporting students and staff, along with the camaraderie at the school, is what makes the job rewarding, Gonzalez said. There is always something new and exciting that keeps it interesting.” But that is one of the things that I also like about my job. “There is a ton of work that passes through my desk and it can be very challenging if you are not organized or if you don’t count on the many things that can go on in just one day of work. “A big challenge to my job is that you have to play many roles,” she said.
I also support teachers, administrators and staff with any requests, questions, or concerns they may have.”īeing an office coordinator means managing the day-to-day operations and being flexible with whatever the day may bring. “My duties also include setting up field trips, conferences, substitute teachers, staff absences, timesheets, etc. “I am mainly in charge of the school’s budget,” she said. Gonzalez is currently serving as an office coordinator for Woodland High School, where she provides a wide variety of services for the school community. As a classified employee of Woodland Joint Unified School District, Yessica Gonzalez is doing her part to ensure that all WJUSD students graduate and are prepared for college or a career.
